Community Groups Shaping Jersey City

I moved to Jersey City in 2004 from New York City, right across the Hudson River. My wife and I moved here because we wanted more space and JC allowed us to get a place that was much larger than what we could afford in the City.
Moving to JC was not without its downsides, but the most positive thing we found was that Jersey City was much more human-scale than NYC. Not surprising, but it wasnâ??t something we thought much about. Jersey City has about 300,000 residents. Of those 300,000, there seems to a handful of people who are really active trying to improve Jersey City, making it greener. More livable. More pleasant. And at this size, thatâ??s possible. We found that if you want to work for it, you can make a difference. You can join a group, make some noise, and even get heard by the city government.
This trail explores a few of the groups who are working, and succeeding, at making Jersey City a nicer place to live. If youâ??re new to JC, get involved with one of these groups. If youâ??ve lived here for a while, get involved. Itâ??s our home. Itâ??s ours to improve.
